Apple Watch Series 3 is coming, and it’s great!

First of all let me say what an amazing Apple keynote this has been. Even though many details were leaked prior to yesterday’s event, it’s always exciting to watch an Apple keynote (free nail biting included).

Tim Cook opened the keynote by dedicating well chosen words to Steve Jobs, and reminding us that his philosophy is still well alive inside Apple.

Now to Apple Watch Series 3

Apple Watch Series 3

YES, Apple Watch Series 3 now comes with cellular connectivity, and an unchanged case design (except for a red detail on the Digital Crown). This means that you can finally leave your iPhone at home, and initiate and receive calls without it being near you. Just imagine how futuristic this idea would have seemed even a couple years ago. You can literally call a person with great sound only with your Apple Watch, and another person on the other side of the planet with an Apple Watch can receive the call and you can talk. This is unbelievable!

To pull this off, Apple integrated a new digital SIM inside the Series 3 Apple Watch, which uses the same phone number as your iPhone. Apple will partner with a couple cellular providers in the beginning, with more joining soon. To activate this option, you will have to pay a small monthly fee to your provider.

The Series 3 Apple Watch will also come in two new case colors: a new Aluminum Gold, and Gray Ceramic. Take a look:

Apple also announced some great new watchOS 4 features, but focused mainly on the Health benefits. What is particularly exciting: the heart rate sensors can now analyze more heart rate data, predicting your regular heart rate, and notifying you if it seems out of place, or if you have arrhythmias (irregular heart beat). This alone can be a life saving function.

Finally pricing:
Apple Watch Series 3 will start at $399 for the 38mm version, and $449 for the 42mm version, with the same pricing for Nike models. Unsurprisingly the ceramic Apple Watch Edition starts at $1299.
